Southern Pet Food, formally know as Fordes Petfood is a family-owned business based in Southland, New Zealand, specialising in the manufacture of raw pet food made from downer and injured livestock collected across the Otago and Southland regions.

Led by Managing Director Cameron Moir, our team is proud to support local farmers while producing honest, high-quality nutrition for pets throughout New Zealand.

In April 2024, our factory at Heddon Bush was lost to a devastating fire. Despite the total loss, our resilience as a family and team showed through — within days, we repurposed our main freezer into a temporary processing facility, salvaged key equipment, and got operations back on track with the help of dedicated staff and contractors.

An electrical fault was later identified as the cause of the fire, and we're now underway for a new, state-of-the-art facility that will help us grow stronger than ever while continuing to serve our customers and community.
